How to Tell You’re Ready to Outsource
Are you ready to outsource? Do you need a smart, caring team?
“How do I know I’m ready to outsource” This is the most common question prospects and new clients ask of me.
The question arises because entrepreneurs are struggling with being overwhelmed but believe there must be a rule about outsourcing that they don’t know and don’t want to break.
Nurse entrepreneurs are high achievers, you want to do a great job at delegation, just like everything else. You care about creating quality relationships, and I love that.
I hear the question (“Am I ready to outsource?”) a little differently than most because of my mediation background. It’s actually three questions.
Ready to Outsource
I hear these questions: Am I ready,
- Emotionally – who am I to be hiring someone?
- Financially – where will I get the money?
- Capacity – do I have enough work to offer and will I look stupid?
Entrepreneurs are human! Humans have a deep need to belong and be safe, according to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
When to outsource – before you get overwhelmed
That means you probably won’t outsource until you can find a safe way to do it and feel in control. Problem is, that can take a long time. Meanwhile, your business and you stay stuck in overwhelm. In fact, here’s the answer I give:
You’re ready to outsource the first time that question enters the back of your mind.
You’re overdue for outsourcing if you’re feeling the pinch of being over-extended, stomping out fires or chasing down new clients.
That stress and feeling of frustration is not what you signed up for when you started your business, and you don’t have to accept it now.
Instead, put the awesome power of outsourcing to work for you. Outsourcing and delegation are the tools that will transform your business from overwhelmed to organized to profitable.
