Keyword Research and Your Legal Nurse Consulting Website

legal nurse consulting websitesCan attorneys find your legal nurse consulting business? do you have a website that includes the results of keyword research?

If you do not have a website, you will remain invisible to the vast majority of attorneys who might have otherwise hired you. See Why LNCs need a Website.

When you do not control your website, and have to rely on a webmaster to make changes, you will spend an enormous amount of money paying for changes, or will avoid the whole project and allow your website to remain dormant.

WordPress websites allow you to easily make changes. See the Top 5 Reasons why You Should be Using WordPress. Other platforms maybe easy to change, once you know coding language or have someone who does who will help you. However, that other person is often one who charges for services, as I said above.

Not having to pay for changes is one of the goals of having your own website.

Keyword Research

Here is how to take advantage of the power of keyword research. List the words that you think attorneys would use to search for your site. “Legal nurse consultants” or “legal nurse consulting” are a couple of terms to consider, but these terms will bring back 22 million hits.

Instead, think of a more specific term, such as (your state) i.e. Texas legal nurse consultant, or (your city) i.e. Pittsburgh legal nurse consultant. These are called long tail keywords, because they consist of 4 or more words. There is less competition for long tail keywords, which gives you a better chance of being found.

Do keyword research on your competitors’ sites. There are a couple of ways to do this.

1. Right click on the page and choose view source to see the keywords in the metatags. They will be labeled as “keywords”.
2. Use Google’s free keyword tool called Keyword Planner. You will need to set up a Google Adwords account but you need not create any ads or spend any money to use the Keyword Planner. Fill in your product or service, fill in the main URL for the competitor’s site, and then select health as the category. Under Tools and Analysis, select Keyword Planner, and the click on the tab that says “keyword ideas” You’ll see how often people are searching for terms used on the competitor’s site.

These methods of doing keyword research change frequently and increasingly are dominated by paid search services.

In order to define what keywords you want to target, select two or three phrases that are most frequently searched for. Make sure you include the keywords in the sentences on your page. Use the keyword at the top and bottom of the page as part of the text, and several times in the text. Remember, you are writing for humans so don’t overdo it and don’t monotonously repeat the keywords.

Use those keywords in everything you write – a blog on your website, social media, articles, and other writing you direct to attorneys.
